Abstract
This article is a critical review about Freudian ideas of motherhood. We outline
how this image is built on the social and political practices in a patriarchal society
as a result of imposed cultural symbols. Besides we study the concept of the female
sexuality, mature femininity and women’s desire in Freud psychoanalysis.
Therefore the essay indicates the difficulty for distinguishing women desire from
their duty of accomplish the symbolic issue of being mothers.
