The article discusses the Muslim traditional point of view, accepted by much of the academic research, about the origins of the Qur’an, and suggests consider it as an irreplaceable witness of Middle Eastern socio-religious dynamics, especially processes experienced by Christianity in 5th-7th centuries, with differentiated groups in conflict and the circulation of memories and traditions about Jesus, not necessarily based in the New Testament.
